Welcome to the land of the maple syrup – Vermont.
Burlington is the largest city within the state. Burlington dates back to 1798, and was first called Wellington Square. The origin of the name has two concepts; the first is that it was named after Richard Boyle, 3rd Earl of Burlington, and the second is it was named after a politically noticeable and prosperous Burling family from New York.
Burlington has a humid continental climate. It has a cold wintertime and very warm, tropical summers.
In the 1800’s the town was also known as Nelson Township and was composed of several small towns, hamlets and villages. Although through the years, these communities disappeared and became just a collection of warehouses, workshops and a few households.
